Outages continue to torture citizens
LAHORE - Power outages have increased to four to seven hours, as electricity shortfall widened and crossed the 1,400MW mark on Saturday. Hydel, thermal and other power generation sources decreased rapidly in the last three days, as the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) failed to control the situation.

PA passes resolution against torture of women
LAHORE - The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution to ensure women rights as provided by Islam to lessen violence. Opposition member Humaira Awais Shahid moved the resolution, in which she stated that incidents of violence against women were on the rise and one of the reasons for such violence was denial to women rights as provided by Islam. LHC CJ orders judicial inquiry into LDA torture incident
LAHORE: Taking notice of the torture on a former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) school teacher and journalists from a private television channel, the Lahore High Court chief justice on Saturday ordered a judicial inquiry headed by Cantt Magistrate Masroor Anwar to ascertain the facts of the incident.
