LAHORE - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has cited efforts to destroy the education system in the countries hit by conflict, a report published in The Guardian said. The annual report on the state of education, the UNESCO says the Israeli military attacks in Gaza left almost 300 schools in rubble and 350 children dead, while the targeted attacks by insurgents in Yemen, Thailand, Pakistan and Afghanistan are also aimed for the same purpose.

FBR set to target top ‘non-filers’ for tax returns
KARACHI - The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has chalked out a strategy with an aim that some 2000 companies file their tax returns. The FBR said steps would be taken by April 15 to ensure that top 1000 corporate non-filers and top 1000 short-filers of the sales tax submitted their returns for the period July-December 2010. Export target for year raised to $22b
KARACHI - Pakisan has revised its export target for financial year 2010-11 and setting the bar at $22billion from an earlier target of $20 billion. This decision has been prompted in view of the record breaking exports exhibited the last three months, culminating in an the garnering of $2.329 billion in January 2011, which is 38.2 percent higher than the level of $1.685 billion seen in the corresponding period last year.
