TAIPEI - Taiwan on Thursday said it had found radioactive particles on a batch of clams imported from Japan amid growing anxiety about food safety.
The discovery came after Taiwan's Atomic Energy Council for the first time on Sunday found a shipment of fava beans from southern Japan had been slightly contaminated. The latest radiation was found on 12 kilograms (26.4 pounds) of geoduck, better known to locals as "elephant trunk clam."

Taiwan, China to hold fresh round of talks next week
TAIPEI: Taiwan and China agreed on Tuesday to hold a fresh round of negotiations next week focusing on medical and health cooperation, officials said.
Top Taiwanese envoy Kao Koong-lian arranged the talks with Chinese counterpart Zheng Lizhong in Shanghai, said Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation which handles civil exchanges with the mainland in the absence of official contacts.
