LAHORE - Police thrashed activists of the outlawed Hizbut Tahrir and arrested around 16 of them in order stop them from holding a protest at Qartaba Chowk on Sunday. A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and Civil Lines Police Station house officer were also injured when Hizbut Tahrir workers retaliated in order to avoid arrests.

CAIRO - Troops took control of Tahrir Square, the fulcrum of protests that swept Hosni Mubarak from power, to allow traffic through central Cairo on Sunday as military rulers struggled to get life in Egypt back to normal.

LAHORE - An open letter from the outlawed Hizbut Tahrir (HuT), a splinter organisation of the outlawed Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, is circulating in many circles nowadays urging the Pakistan Army to establish Caliphate in the country, Pakistan Today has learnt.
