SC seeks report from NAB on sale of State Bank Colony Lahore in 2002
The Supreme Court (SC) Thursday sought a reply from NAB within 15 days in a case pertaining to the sale of State Bank Colony land in 2002 in Lahore.
The court has directed that it be informed about the cost and market value of the land in 2002.
This directive was issued by a three-member bench of the SC presided over by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan during the course of hearing of review petition Thursday.
Abouzar and others had taken the plea in the review petition that land was located in an area where no one wanted to purchase it and that they had purchased the land in exchange for Rs 52.20 million. However, the court had declared the deal null and void in light of NAB's report. A review petition was filed against the decision.
NAB told the court that a loss over Rs 70 million was caused to the national exchequer in the said deal and the land was sold out at throwaway rates rather than the market value. NAB said that the deal was breach of law and the constitution.
The court directed NAB to file a reply and provide details of the market value of the land in 2002. The concerned parties can also file a reply if they have any reservations or objections to NAB's report. Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned for 15 days.
