KASUR - Additional District and Sessions Judge Jawad-ul-Hassan awarded death sentence, life imprisonment and Rs 400,000 fine to three double-murder accused. Muhammad Din, Jamil Ahmed and Mushtaq killled Sadiq and Munir in the Ganda Singh police area two years ago over an old enmity. The convicts will have to undergo eight months imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine.

KARACHI - An anti terrorism court (ATC) on Friday handed down death sentences to four men charged with kidnapping a minor boy for ransom.
ATC-III Judge Anand Ram Hotwani - on the last day of his contractual service - after hearing both sides, convicted Irshad Ahmed, Moar Buriro, Arz Muhammad alias Jalal Gorchani and Muhammad Hasan for abducting Arsh Nabi, 3, from Defence Housing Authority in January 2010 and sentenced them to death.

Iranian woman sentenced to stoning could be pardoned
TEHRAN: There is a "good chance" that the life of an Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning for adultery could be spared, the head of Iran's High Human Rights Council said in an interview aired on Monday.
"Our judiciary made a lot of efforts (in reviewing the case) and we think there is a good chance her life could be saved," Mohammed Javad Larijani told Iran's English-language Press TV.

Christian woman sentenced to death for ‘blasphemy’
LAHORE: A mother of two has become the first Christian woman in Pakistan to be sentenced to death for blasphemy, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Aasia, a field labourer in her late thirties, was handed the sentence and a fine of Rs 100,000 by a sessions court in Sheikhupura on Monday. She was found guilty of committing blasphemy against her fellow farm workers in the village of Ittanwali in Nankana Sahib district on June 19 last year on her refusal to renounce her faith.
Aasia, a field labourer in her late thirties, was handed the sentence and a fine of Rs 100,000 by a sessions court in Sheikhupura on Monday. She was found guilty of committing blasphemy against her fellow farm workers in the village of Ittanwali in Nankana Sahib district on June 19 last year on her refusal to renounce her faith.
John sentenced to 15 days in jail
Bollywood actor John Abraham was sentenced to fifteen days' simple imprisonment yesterday in a 2006 accident case, but was immediately released on bail of Rs1500 by a court here.
