NEW DELHI - At a time when Pakistan is facing acute shortage of electricity, India has offered to sell power at cheap rates to its energy-starved neighbour, Commerce Secretary Zafar Mehmood said Wednesday.

LAHORE: Sugar price remained high despite surplus availability in the market on Saturday as retailers refused to sell sugar at Rs 72 per kg saying that they could not book loss.

LAHORE: The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) on Friday fixed the wholesale and retail prices of sugar at Rs 69 and Rs 72 per kilogramme, respectively.
Lahore DCO Ahad Khan Cheema issued a notification warning violators of stern measures, including three years imprisonment. The DCO said the district government had formed special monitoring teams headed by magistrates to ensure that dealers and retailers sold sugar at the prescribed prices.

KARACHI: Growers are reluctant to sell sugarcane to the sugar mills at the government's notified rate of Rs 127 per maund as they await an increase in cane prices in wake of an unprecedented hike in sugar rates.

ECC tells TCP to sell imported sugar as it lands
ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Thursday directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to expedite sugar imports, sell the imported stocks at the port and immediately exhaust all other stocks to deflate the artificial price hike across the country.
