KESC shrinking away from SSGC security deposit
KARACHI - Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) which has cried foul over the limited supply of gas from Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is deliberately avoiding an agreement for purchase of gas in a bid to dodge security deposits of billions of rupees. The KESC is reluctant to honour a security deposit valued at Rs 10 billion to SSGC, a mandatory requirement for a consumer to receive utility services, sources indicated.

PESHAWAR - Two militants were shot down in Samar Bag area of Lower Dir, security officials claimed on Sunday. Earlier, the militants attacked a police van with an Improvised Explosive Device, injuring three police officers including the station house officer, officials said.
Security forces then retaliated, killing two of the attackers and capturing an undisclosed number. The Lower Dir district is native to Sufi Mohammad, chief of the banned Tehrik Nifaz Shariah Mohammadi.

KARACHI - The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Saturday stopped a Dubai-bound Emirates Airlines' flight EK-607, in which PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also travelling, and ran a security check before allowing it to depart.

Security forces kill 16 Taliban
PESHAWAR - Security forces on Saturday claimed killing more than 16 Taliban on the second consecutive day of military operation in Baizai and Alingar areas of Mohmand Agency.
Meanwhile, Taliban have also attacked another security forces' checkpost in agency's Badmani area, in which they claimed killing a number of security forces' personnel. Official said the security forces succeeded in destroying several Taliban compounds with the help of helicopter gunships.

PESHAWAR: At least 24 militants and 12 security personnel were killed and several others injured in clashes in Baizai area of Mohmand Agency on Friday.
The clashes erupted when a group of militants attacked five checkposts in Baizai late on Thursday. Officials said around 150 militants attacked the checkposts at Ghanam Shah, Badmani and Sar Kandaw.
