‘Banks wrote off Rs 74b in 2 years’

ISLAMABAD - The banks have been generous enough to write off loans worth Rs 74.384 billion during the past two years. FAISALABAD - A fire sparked by short circuit in a weaving factory destroyed the weaving material and machinery worth Rs 5 million. Reportedly, Maqsood Weaving Factory at Faizabad in Ghulam Muhammadabad area caught fire at night due to short circuit.

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Lahore, has detected the huge General Sales Tax (GST) evasion of Rs 613 million by a group of fraudsters.

ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry has failed to produce the reconciled accounts worth Rs 515 million, it collected as fee for arms licences during April 2008 to June 2009 despite repeated directions from the Auditor General of Pakistan, Pakistan Today learnt.

Govt accedes on Rs 6 billion subsidy for urea importers

ISLAMABAD: The government conceded to importers and manufacturers demand to provide a subsidy of Rs 6.0 billion on the import of 0.225 million tonnes of urea during the current financial year.
