Remittances rise to $6.12 billion in 7 months
KARACHI - Remittances sent home by the Pakistani Diaspora continued to grow, as an amount of $6.12 billion was received in the first seven months (July-January) of the Fiscal Year 2010-11, showing an increase of $919.92 million or 17.70% compared to $5.19 billion received over the same period in the last fiscal year.

PSO financial costs set to rise

BAGHDAD - Iraq's government submitted a revised draft budget to MPs for approval on Sunday, raising projected public spending as oil prices have increased, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said. The new spending programme estimates overall expenditure at $81.86 billion, or 96.6 trillion Iraqi dinars, while income will be $68.56 billion, leaving a shortfall of $13.3 billion- about a 16 percent budget deficit.

ISLAMABAD - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, in the week ended on January 6, has registered an increase of 0.51 percent in comparison to the previous week.

Textile exports rise by 26.88pc
ISLAMABAD - Textile group export registered an increase of 26.88 percent during the period from July to November 2010 compared to the same time last year. According to data available with Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), the export of raw cotton increased by 15.43 percent and about 49,688 metric tonnes of raw cotton was exported worth $121.433 million.
