OICCI announces BCS results – 70pc business units reject RGST

MCB bank announces 2010 financial results
KARACHI - MCB Bank has notched up another strong annual performance in terms of financial results and posted profit before tax of Rs 26 billion, an increase of 13 percent compared to 2009, profit after tax touched Rs 17 billion with an increase of nine percent since last year.

Refineries exhibit strong results in 1HFY11
KARACHI - Refineries have posted strong results in the first half of the Financial Year 2011. Improved Gross Rent Multipliers (GRM) pushed performance upwards in the first quarter of Financial Year 2011, while better lube earnings for National Refinery Limited (NRL) and dividend income for Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL) helped earnings in the 2QFY11.

LAHORE - Zahid Baig and Muhammad Luqman have been elected as President and General Secretary of Agriculture Journalists Association (AJA) respectively for the year 2011. According to election results, Nadeem Basra has been elected as Vice President while Asif Ali Khan, Tariq Khurshid and Amir Nafees were elected members of the governing body.

KARACHI - Fauji Fertiliser Company (FFC) is expected to record revenues of Rs 44 billion, an annual growth of 22 percent, primarily attributable to higher urea prices. Urea prices rose due to a curtailment in gas supplied to the fertiliser sector, whereby manufacturers were forced to cut back on production. Consequently, gross margins for the company are likely to improve by 100bps to 44 percent in 2010.

UHS declares MBBS-II results
LAHORE - The University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday announced result of the First Professional MBBS Part-II Annual Examinations. Total 2,923 candidates from 20 affiliated medical colleges appeared in the exam out of which 2,241 passed and 653 failed. Result of 29 candidates was put on RL list. The pass percentage remained 77.44. Javaria Karamat, daughter of Karamat Mahmood, of the Central Park Medical College, Lahore got first position by securing 494 marks out of 550.
LBA Election board fails to announce timely results
LAHORE - The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) Election Board could not perform efficiently and took more than 12 hours to announce the final results of the 2011 elections. Poor voting facilities and over-crowded premises did not allow a number of lawyers to cast their vote while only 42.06 percent lawyers could caste their vote and the rest had to return back empty handed. CAIRO: Hundreds of Egyptian activists and members of opposition groups protested on Sunday against what they said were violations during a parliamentary vote that handed the ruling party a huge victory last month.
