ISLAMABAD - Police Deputy Inspector General Major (r) Mubasharullah told the Supreme Court on Friday that Islamabad's former IG Kalim Imam had phoned him and asked to accept the affidavits being filed on behalf of Ali Riaz, Bahria Town's chief executive and one of the accused in illegal drag race case in which an accident claimed five lives.

Families of drag race victims absolve housing society
LAHORE - The families of the drag race tragedy victims have absolved the Bahria Town management, of all the blames. The tragedy took place on 5 December 2010 in Phase VIII of Bahria Town, when one of the driver lost control over his car and it rammed into spectators. Five people died in the accident.

Punjab girls race to glory in U-16 Athletics
LAHORE - The athletic team of the Sports Board Punjab has excelled in the PSB-Inter Provincial U-16 Girls Athletics Championship held at Karachi on Monday. Saib-e- Asra of Punjab stood first in the final of 800 meter race while Perveen Fiaz of Punjab stood third. Musurrat of Punjab was the winner and Sidra Hameed was declared third in long jump final.

SC cancels high court’s bail to drag race accused
ISLAMABAD - Expressing dismay over the Sindh High Court's decision to grant protective bail to Ali Riaz, son of Bahria Town's chief executive Malik Riaz, in the fatal drag car race case, the Supreme Court on Monday reversed the ruling by canceling the bail. The illegal race had ended with loss of five lives after an accident on December 5, 2010.

ISLAMABAD: A three-member Supreme Court bench will today take up a suo motu notice taken against loss of five precious lives in a car race in Rawalpindi, reportedly without permission from the district administration.

Car race claims 5 lives in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: At least five people, including a father and a son, were killed and several injured on Sunday when the participant of a car race rammed his vehicle into a crowd of spectators in Islamabad's Bahria Town.
According to details, Majid Naeem, the driver, lost control of his car that headed straight into a crowd, killing Suhail Khan, his son Danyal Khan and Babar Ali on the spot.
Two others, Aslam Yar and Mohsin Javed, succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
