DOHA - The cull of seeded players continued in Doha with Francesca Schiavone and Shahar Peer crashing out of the WTA Qatar Open in one-sided matches here on Wednesday. Italian Schiavone, the third seed, became the biggest casualty yet at the tournament when she was ousted by China's Peng Shuai 7-5, 6-3 in the second round, while the eighth-seeded Peer, who had beaten two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kusnetsova on Tuesday, was thrashed by Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli 6-1, 6-0.

ROTTERDAM - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won an all-French match Wednesday to book the first of the quarter-final places at the ATP Rotterdam Open as he defeated compatriot Michael Llodra 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Llodra, the 2008 champion, has now lost all three of his matches with 2008 Australian open finalist Tsonga.

Junior Squash Championship reaches quarters
LAHORE - The Punjab National Junior Squash Championship 2011 reached the quarter-final stage here on Friday. The event will have its finals played on February 7 at the Punjab Squash Complex. On Friday, the main round matches started, with President Punjab Squash Association Malik Amjad Ali Noon opening the round. The day started with some of the first round matches.

LAHORE - A drawn game between Winder and Kalri allowed Singolane to sneak into the last eight as two more league matches were decided in the PFF-KESC Lyari Football League at Kalakot's Shaheed Abdul Rehman Park ground in Karachi.
