Punjab govt set to abolish top revenue posts

LAHORE - The Punjab government has started the process of abolishing top revenue posts in districts and tehsils across the province, Pakistan Today has learnt. According to details, there are a total of 36 executive district officers (EDO) revenue and DO (R) posts in all districts, while nearly 140 deputy district officers (DDO) (R) are working across all tehsils of Punjab.

Punjab govt to check obscene theatre dances

LAHORE - A decision was taken on Monday to enforce strict measures to check 'obscene' dances, dual meaning sentences and vulgarity in commercial dramas and stage shows and owners of theatres and cinemas would be held responsible for violation of this code of conduct.

LAHORE - Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has assured MQM of its constitutional right regarding its plan to hold a procession on April 10 at Minar-e-Pakistan. Magistracy system being revived in Punjab

LAHORE - The Punjab government has written to the Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee (IPCC) of the federal government to take up measures to revive the old system of magistracy in Punjab, Pakistan Today has learnt. In the letter, the provincial government has requested the centre to take up the matter and "make relevant amendments" in the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to revive the old system of magistracy in the province.

LAHORE - The Pakistan Olympics Association on Saturday allocated the 32nd National Games to Punjab and the 4th Inter-Provincial Games to Balochistan. Both the events were allocated on rotation basis.
