ISLAMABAD - The meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has been postponed until April 23 without taking up the agenda. The commission, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, met Saturday for considering confirmation or appointments of additional judges to the Lahore and Balochistan high courts, but the agenda was not completed due the non-availability of the law minister.

Talks on ‘Green Climate Fund’ postponed

PARIS - A first meeting to set down the ground rules of a fund to channel hundreds of billions of dollars to poor countries exposed to climate change has been postponed, a UN official said on Thursday. Representatives from 40 countries had been scheduled to meet in Mexico City on March 14 and 15 for the maiden meeting of a panel designed to breathe life into the Green Climate Fund (GCF) established last December.

LONDON - The release of Mel Gibson's new film 'The Beaver' has been postponed by six weeks. The drama was previously scheduled to open in a limited number of theatres on 23 March, with a subsequent wider release on 8 April. But on Monday, Summit Entertainment executives announced plans to push back the release date - the film will now come out in the US on 6 May and expand on 20 May.

KBA oath-taking ceremony postponed

KARACHI - The oath-taking ceremony of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) has been postponed due to the engagement of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in Islamabad. The CJP has to preside over the judicial council meeting today (Saturday).
The ceremony could be held in the first week or the mid of February as it depends on the schedule of the CJP.
