CDA to plant 500,000 saplings this spring

ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to plant 500,000 saplings during the upcoming spring tree plantation campaign. The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Wednesday. The meeting, besides reviewing progress on 'Clean and Green Islamabad' campaign launched in 2008, also fixed targets for the upcoming spring plantation drive.

ANKARA - Turkey is in preliminary talks with France for the construction of a nuclear power plant but Japan has the priority, Anatolia news agency quoted Turkey's energy minister as saying on Friday.

Defence Cogent Plant yet to produce electricity

KARACHI: Defence cogent power plant is not functioning for six months due to compressor faults and the Defence Cogent Ltd (DCL) management, major share holder of the project, is not willing to repair it, sources said on Monday.

ABD likely to give $100m loan for Uch-II Power Plant

ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is likely to approve on December 13 a private-sector loan of $100 million - with a political-risk guarantee of $50 million - for the 404-megawatt Uch II Power Plant in Balochistan.
The project involves the construction, erection and operation of the low British thermal unit (BTU) combined cycle power-plant. Uch II would be constructed adjacent to the 586 MW Uch 1 Power Plant at Dera Murad Jamali, which has been operational since 2000.
