KABUL: War-torn Afghanistan lacks basic national infrastructure, yet on Sunday the government unveiled plans for a $100 million electronic identification system with cards to be issued to all Afghans within five years.

Afridi plans to retire on winning note
LAHORE: Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi plans to hang his shoes after leading his team to the 2011 World Cup title.
"It is my desire to win the World Cup title for Pakistan before leaving the cricket scene," he said on the sidelines of the training camp here at the National Cricket Academy.
He said that although they won T20 World Cup in England but his ultimate desire is to lead Pakistan to the World Cup title next year in the sub-continent.

CDA plans to begin bus service for twin cities
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to launch a new bus service by March next to meet the growing needs of commuters, traveling between the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
