Food export rises by 25.55 percent

ISLAMABAD - The food group export from the country during last nine months of current financial year registered an increase of 25.55 percent as compared to the same period of last financial year.
Food commodities worth US$ 3.083 billion were exported during the period from July to March 2010-11 as against the US$ 2.455 billion of the year 2009-10, said the figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistic on Tuesday.

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's economy is expected to grow 4 percent in the coming financial year starting July 1, picking up steam again after devastating floods pushed back growth to around 3 percent this year, officials said on Thursday.

KARACHI - Cement manufacturers have said that the country's cement exports and dispatches declined, respectively, by 14.46 and 7.86 percent during first nine months of the current fiscal year.

ISLAMABAD - Exports of services from Pakistan surged by 55.69 percent during the first seven months of current fiscal year as against the same period of last year.
The overall export of services was recorded at US$3.424 billion during July-January (2010-11) as against the exports of US$2.199 billion during the corresponding period of last year, according to data of Federal Bureau of Statistics.

45 percent of tax revenues go to creditors

ADP budget slashed by 33 percent

KARACHI - A 33 percent budgetary reduction has been made in the revised Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2010-11, with the original allocation of Rs 115 billion slashed to Rs 77 billion, announced Planning & Development (P&D) Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Ishaque Lashari in a meeting at the CM House.
The meeting - held on Friday but a notification issued on Saturday - was summoned by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to review the progress in the ADP for 2010-2011.

ISLAMABAD - Car sales have increased by 12 percent in the first seven months of the current fiscal year to reach at 72,580 units compared to 64,965 units in the corresponding period last year.
