LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board has filed an appeal with the Federal Board of Revenue seeking an exemption in income tax when the amendment in the second schedule of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 comes into force. PCB chairman Ijaz Butt took up the matter with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani during a reception in honour of the Pakistan women cricket team that clinched the gold medal in the Asian Games.

Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council, Haroon Lorgat, while praising Pakistan Cricket Board's recent measures to curb corruption, stated that the guidelines set by the world governing body were being implemented.
In an interview on a foreign website, Lorgat said that the PCB had pledged to show no leniency to players proved guilty of corruption. "The PCB has showed that it was serious in removing corruption," he said.
