Founder of famous catering service passes away
KARACHI - Khurshid Ahmed, founder and managing director of La Rosh Caterers, died on Monday after protracted illness. He was 73. He left behind two sons and as many daughters to mourn his death.
Khurshid Ahmed achieved a degree in textiles from Germany in the 60s but launched his catering company in early 80. He provided catering services for the cricket teams during international and domestic cricket matches. He was buried at Sakhi Hassan Graveyard.

Govt fixes export volume for VIP protocol passes at $20 million
KARACHI - Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Commerce have decided to fix the export value of $20 million for issuance of VIP protocol passes at airports to avoid the rush and security risks.
Though almost 200 exporters having the export value of around $10 million have applied for the facility, the two ministries responsible to issue the passes have set a new condition of $20 million export value to enjoy the passes, sources disclosed.

Jahandad Khan passes away
ISLAMABAD - Former Sindh governor and Al-Shifa Trust (AST) President Lt Gen (Retd) Jahandad Khan passed away at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi here on Sunday. He was 83 and was survived by one daughter and one son.
He was the founder of the Al-Shifa Trust eye hospitals at Rawalpindi, Kohat, Sukkur, Quetta and Muzaffarabad. The funeral for Jahandad Khan was held at the Shifa Eye Hospital Rawalpindi.

Swine flu patient passes away
ISLAMABAD - A 26-year old young man, infected with the swine flu virus, died in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Wednesday marking the country's first swine flu-related death this season.
Mansoor, who got admitted in PIMS a week ago in critical condition, was from Attock. He was kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for one week but could not survive. Three swine flu infected patients were admitted of which two survived.

LAHORE - The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution to ensure women rights as provided by Islam to lessen violence. Opposition member Humaira Awais Shahid moved the resolution, in which she stated that incidents of violence against women were on the rise and one of the reasons for such violence was denial to women rights as provided by Islam. Some treasury members opposed the motion, which though was passed through voice voting.

PESHAWAR - Former interior minister and founding member of the Pakistan People's Party, Maj Gen (r) Naseerullah Khan Babar died on Monday after two-and-a-half years of protracted illness.

ISLAMABAD - The Azad Jammu Kashmir Council passed its budget of Rs 9.007 billion for 2010-2011 and revised estimates for 2009-2010 worth Rs 6.251 billion on Thursday.
Minister in charge of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council Secretariat, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, while presenting the budget, said the share of AJK government was 66per cent of the total budget which is 50per cent higher than that of the last year.

MA Zuberi passes away
KARACHI: After a prolonged illness, eminent journalist MA Zuberi breathed his last on Sunday. He will be buried in the compound of Abdullah Shah Ghazi Mazar in Karachi today (Monday). The funeral prayers will be offered at Masjid Noorul Islam in Zamzama Park after Zoher prayers.
