Refinery output slides 6.3 percent
KARACHI - Pakistan's refinery throughput dwindled 6.3 percent to 5.1 million tonnes in February 2011, primarily because of a month-long plant closure of PARCO and operational issues for BYCO and PRL triggered by circular debt. Indian Basmati processor expects steady output
MUMBAI - Rice processor REI Agro Ltd is expecting its 2010-11 basmati rice output and exports to remain steady at last year's level and for revenues to grow due to higher prices, a senior company official said.

Oil refinery output falls by 9 percent
KARACHI - Based on provisional data, the country's refinery production in the first six months of the Financial Year (FY) 2011 (July-December) stood at 3.79 million tonnes, down nine percent annually. KARACHI - Oil production of the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) is forecast to decline at an average rate of two percent annually from 13.34 million barrels in Financial Year 2010 to 13.10 million barrels in Financial Year 2014.

The poverty stricken growers are undergoing serious difficulties to level their agricultural lands due to an acute shortage of earth leveling bulldozers, as only 80 bulldozers are functional, while 280 are lying out of order, it is reliably learnt.
The bulldozers are outdated and are well above their working life span, however, the Agriculture Department of Sindh has disturbingly repaired only 80 bulldozers, sources told Pakistan Today.
