Officers fill in newly-created posts, re-designated
LAHORE - The Punjab government has transferred several officers from the provincial service and the district management group to the newly created posts of additional commissioners, additional collectors, besides promoting several others on Wednesday.
The notification read that in pursuance to the approval of the competent authority, the posts of additional commissioners at Divisional Headquarters in Punjab have been re-designated as "Additional Commissioner (Coordination)".

KARACHI - Expressing displeasure over the Population Department secretary's statement that show-cause notices were issued to 13 officers suspected of embezzling Rs 4.587 million from the department funds, the Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday recommended that the provincial government should at least suspend these officers. The financial irregularities were noticed during the audit of Population Department accounts for the year 2007-8.

LAHORE - The LHC on Tuesday adjourned proceedings till April 21 in a petition by Punjab Civil Services Welfare Association (PCSWA) president and others challenging the show-cause notice issued to them and subsequent suspension orders. LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry deferred the hearing on a request from the petitioners/ suspended officers as their counsel lawyer Hamid Khan could not appear in court owing to some other engagements.
