Interior Ministry fails to reconcile Rs 515 million accounts
ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry has failed to produce the reconciled accounts worth Rs 515 million, it collected as fee for arms licences during April 2008 to June 2009 despite repeated directions from the Auditor General of Pakistan, Pakistan Today learnt.
The Interior Division issued 88,838 arms licences during the said period. Fee for these licences was estimated Rs 515 million and it was to be deposited into the government treasury. However, the receipts were not reconciled

One million displaced need aid in Sindh: UN
SEHWAN: The UN chief of humanitarian affairs said on Friday that more than one million displaced people still need emergency aid in southern Pakistan, around four months after catastrophic floods.

Israel to invest 23 million dollars in Western Wall plaza
JERUSALEM: Israel's cabinet on Sunday approved plans to invest millions of shekels in a five-year project to expand the plaza next to the Western Wall, one of Judaism's holiest sites in Jerusalem's Old City.

With an annual growth rate of more than two percent, the population of Pakistan has jumped to 184 million in 2010 from 119 million in 1990.
Presently, Pakistan contributes more than two and half percent of world's population and its population growth rate has mostly remained above the world's population growth rate.
Even while Pakistan's population growth rate has started declining since the decade of 90's, its contribution towards world's population increased

LAHORE: The Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) suffered a decline in volume, as it stayed bullish on Monday. The LSE 25-shares index added 27.77 points to close at 3,272.18 against its opening at 3,244.41 levels.
Volume of the market declined by 0.34 million shares to close at 4.85 million shares. Out of 113 active scrips, 39 went up, 24 declined and 50 showed no change in their opening values. Lotte Pakistan PTA ended the day as leaders in volume followed by Arif Habib Securities.
