Lahore to host Raiders Football Cup next month

LAHORE – Prominent clubs of Lahore and other districts of Punjab will show their mettle in the All Punjab Raiders Football Cup 2011, to be played at Raiders Football Club Ground, Faisal Town, from Sunday, 16 January 2011.

PFA declares Lahore Football League illegal

LAHORE – The Punjab Football Association Secretary Agha Muhammad Latif declared DFA Lahore League illegal as it goes against the PFA Calendar. As per yearly Activity Calendar issued by PFA, the DFA league was to be held from March 15, 2011. But DFA officials announced that the league would start from December 25, 2010.

Lahore women’s cricket trials today

LAHORE: The Lahore region women cricket representatives announced Tuesday that trials to select the Lahore team for participation in the Lahore Region Inter-district Cricket Tournament will be held today. According to coach of the Lahore region women wing Irfanullah, the trials will be held today at 9 am and talented players of schools, clubs and institutions would be allowed to take part in the trials.

LAHORE: Hearing of a petition challenging the pardon granted by President Asif Ali Zardari to Interior Minister Rehman Malik was adjourned to December 24 by a full bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday. Earlier, Deputy Attorney General Naveed Inayat Malik had requested adjournment on behalf of the federation, citing Rehman’s pending adjudication in Supreme Court as an excuse.

Former NICL chairman shifted to Lahore

LAHORE: Former National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) chairman Ayaz Khan Niazi was shifted to Lahore from Karachi on Saturday. Niazi was under the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Lahore’s custody and would soon be presented in court.
According to details, FIA had already recovered Rs 1 billion from NICL scam accused Mohsin Habib Warraich and the Supreme Court had ordered shifting Niazi to Lahore.

LAHORE: Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar won their National Women Under-19 T20 Cricket Championship matches on Thursday at the Lahore Country Club, Muridke.

LAHORE: Junaid Jan and Fahadullah cracked centuries to give an upper hand to Lahore Ravi against Hyderabad on day two of the four-day Division II Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match here at the LCCA ground on Monday.
