FIA clears Kazmi of Haj corruption scandal
ISLAMABAD - The FIA has cleared former minister for religious affairs Hamid Kazmi from corruption allegations levelled on him regarding the Haj scam. According to an FIA report, former Haj director general Rao Shakil and middleman Ahmad Faiz did not transfer any amount in Kazmi's bank account therefore he was cleared of the charges.

ISLAMABAD: In an apparent move to defuse the controversy over charges of massive corruption in Haj affairs, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday sacked two federal ministers, reshuffled his cabinet and removed the Religious Affairs secretary from office.
Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi and Science and Technology Minister Azam Khan Swati were sent packing by Gilani, after Swati accused Kazmi of corrupt practices in the Haj operations.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sent a written request to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for the arrest of former Religious Affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi after gaining two pieces of evidence against him for his involvement in the Haj accommodation scam, an agency official told Pakistan Today on Tuesday.

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday sacked Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi and Science and Technology Minister Azam Swati from their portfolios following a dispute over hajj scandal, a private TV channel reported.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs will not have any objection if the parliament allows the private sector to manage Haj arrangements, Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi told the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Religious Affairs on Friday.
