CDA begins work on Kashmir Highway without ECNEC’s approval
ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority has started the construction work of Kashmir Highway without sending its fresh PC-1 worth over Rs 3 billion to National Economic Council (NEC).
"The old PC-1 of Kashmir Highway project is Rs 2.2 billion, which was approved by the NEC in 2007 but the CDA has not sent the new PC-1 of Kashmir Highway project of over Rs 3 billion under which they tendered and started the project," a source in CDA finance wing told Pakistan Today.

SRINAGAR - Suspected Muslim militants Friday shot dead a 47-year-old ruling-party activist in Indian Kashmir, police said, while four people were hurt in fresh clashes in the insurgency-hit region. India to pull 10,000 troops from Kashmir
NEW DELHI - India plans to withdraw 10,000 paramilitary troops from Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) in 2011 and renew efforts to hold talks in the rebellion-hit region, a top government official said on Sunday. A separatist insurgency has raged in IHK, and at least 114 people died in street protests last summer in pitched battles with security forces.

ISLAMABAD - Authorities on Saturday issued a medium-danger avalanche alert in several parts of Kashmir in view of moderate to heavy snowfall forecast over the next three days.
