Cement sales dip by 16 percent in January

KARACHI - Cement sales remained weak in January and fell by 16 percent in annual terms. With regards to quantity, the sale of cement declined to 2.5 million tonnes. Rising product prices and meek domestic demand attributable primarily to poor public sector spending kept local off-take constricted (down 16 percent annually), whereas unattractive prices in the regional markets dragged exports down by 17 percent annually.

Capello backs January move for Qatar World Cup

LONDON - England coach Fabio Capello said on Wednesday that he believes it would make sense to run the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in January, given the soaring summer temperatures in the Gulf state.

0.2 million tonnes of urea arriving in January

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal informed the National Assembly on Friday that the government will import 0.2 million tonnes of urea fertilizer from Saudi Arabia to offset any shortfall.
Replying to queries during the session, the federal minister said that gas load-shedding has adversely affected urea output which would have to be overcome by imports.
The imported urea will arrive in the country by January 2011, he added. The
