Educated girls in Thar being given govt Jobs: Jam Mehtab

  Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said on Wednesday that the Sindh government was providing government jobs to educated girls in Thar and traditional midwives were being trained for safe deliveries of children. In first phase, 165 midwives have been trained for the purpose. Talking to media men visiting government hospitals and dispensaries of Diplo, Islam Kot, Mithi, and adjacent areas, he said that the Health Department was working in collaboration with Population Welfare Department, NGOs, Revenue Department, EPI, MNCH and other stakeholders to uplift the living standard of people and that 42 mobile medical units had been formed to provide health facilitates in remote areas of Thar for children under five years of age. He said that the 42 medical mobile units had been equipped with all the required the medical facilities and staff. They provide medicines and treatment to expecting females and in case of severe illness, the affected children are transported and referred to big cities through these mobile units. He said that with the coordination of Population Welfare Department, camps were being established at certain points to provide awareness to the women regarding gap in birth and how to make deliveries safe besides improving the health of the pregnant women. He expressed hope that the provision of government jobs to educated girls in Thar and the basic health training would improve the situation in the area. He said that he would not tolerate any negligence in this regard.
