Gold rises towards $1,350 per ounce as dollar languishes

LONDON: Gold prices rose again, touching $1,350 an ounce in Europe, and silver touched a new 30-year high on Monday. It came amid rumors that the United States will shortly introduce further monetary easing.
Spot gold was bid at $1,348.70 an ounce at 1122 GMT, against $1,343.25 late in New York on Friday. US gold futures for December delivery rose $4.50 an ounce to $1,349.80. Spot gold is still within sight of last week's record $1,364.60.

Marie Jones : Third woman to win nine CWG gold medals

Leisel Marie Jones became the only third woman to win nine gold medals in the Commonwealth Games history. The Australian swimmer achieved this feat by winning the women's 100m Breaststroke at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Aquatics Complex, Talkatora Gardens on Friday, October 8. She has now won this event three times in a row at the Commonwealth Games. Australian Susie O'Neill and Petria Thomas are the other two women to have won nine or more gold medals in the Commonwealth Games.

Yolane Kukla : Youngest gold medalist of the century

Australian Yolane Kukla became the youngest swimming gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games in this century when she won the women's 50 metres Freestyle event at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Aquatics Complex on Friday, October 8.
Yolane Kukla, who was born on September 29 1995 in Brisbane, was 15 years and nine days old when she beat England's Halsall Francesca in the final of 50 metres freestyle. Yolane Kukla is also the youngest gold medalist in swimming since 2000. Alice Mills
