PORT-AU-PRINCE - Colombian pop star Shakira pledged $400,000 on Thursday to help rebuild a school for girls in Haiti that was severely damaged during the country's devastating earthquake last year.

Two girls’ schools blown up in Landi Kotal
PESHAWAR - Some unknown miscreants blew up two more girls' primary schools in tehsil Landikotal, Khyber Agency to deprive girls of education in the area.
Reportedly, two girls' primary schools in Hukam Khan Kallay and Awal Said Kallay in Sultan Khel area of tehsil Landi Kotal were destroyed by planting explosive in them.
With the destruction of these schools, the total number of destroyed schools in Khyber Agency has climbed to 41 with 16 only in tehsil Landi Kotal.

Three girls die in Attock roof collapse
ATTOCK - Three girls were killed when the roof of their house caved.
The incident took place in Pandi Gheb tehsil of Attock district at the house of Hafiz Hussain Ahmed when three girls were inside the roof when its roof collapsed due to breakage of its wooden beams.
All the girls, identified as Nadia, Samina and Sidra, died on the spot.

KASUR - A 13-year-old daughter of Muhammad Rafiq was going home from school when Farooq and Irfan abducted her and raped her at village Gharri Singh in the precincts of Kanganpur Police Station.

SIALKOT - Unavailability of a surgeon at Daska Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital's emergency ward resulted in the death of an injured minor girl. Reportedly, labourer Muhammad Awais of village Bhallowali was cleaning his pistol when a bullet hit her five-year-old daughter Iqra. When she was taken to Daska THQ Civil Hospital's emergency ward, no surgeon was available there.

Junior Girls Badminton from today
LAHORE - The Inter Divisional Youth U-16 Girls Badminton Championship will start from March 8 (today) at Faisalabad. The event is being organised by the Sports Board Punjab at Faisalabad and will terminate on March 10. The teams from all the eight divisions of Punjab will participate in the event. The championship will be held at Crescent Sports Complex, Faisalabad.

PESHAWAR - At least 18 girls' students and two others were injured when armed militants targeted the participants of a farewell party at the Government Girls Degree College Laund Khawar Mardan on Tuesday.
"Two militants riding on a motorbike first lobbed two hand grenades and then opened indiscriminate fire with pistols," Mardan Police Deputy Inspector General Abdullah Khan said, adding three injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar in a critical condition.

MURIDKE - Lahore and Faisalabad girls crushed their opponents on the second day of 6th National Women's Sr. Cricket Championship, played here at the Lahore Country Club, Muridke. Students demand furniture, separate girls school
HAFIZABAD - The students of Primary School Kot Miran who have to sit on the ground despite the purchase of plastic furniture worth Rs 110 million by the district administration have urged the Punjab government to order the authorities concerned to supply the required furniture and posting of teaching staff at the earliest.
