GB Assembly passes two resolutions in favour of President Zardari

Karam new Gilgit Baltistan governor

ISLAMABAD - Syed Karam Ali was appointed the new governor of Gilgit Baltistan by President Asif Zardari on the advice of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday. Sources said Karam was appointed against the wishes of CM Mehdi Shah. Soon after the appointment of the governor, some religious party leaders, mainly Sunnis, expressed concerns over the nomination of a candidate belonging to the Ismaili sect.
