Preparations for Punjab Games reviewed
LAHORE - A high level meeting of the officials of the Punjab sports fraternity on Thursday reviewed the preparations for the 71st Punjab Games, which was postponed four times in the past due to a cold war between the Punjab Olympics Association and the Sports Secretary Punjab. The Games have been scheduled for April 7 to 9 at different venues of the city and the PbOA has promised that they will not be postponement this time.

KARACHI - Pakistan's top chess player and International Master, Mahmood Ahmed Lodhi got off to a fine start in the Asian Zone 3.2 Chess Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka by winning two out of three matches. In the first round, he beat Shrestha Sujandra Parsad of Nepal and in the second round he defeated country-mate Aamir Karim. LAHORE - The trouble-stricken 71st Punjab Games, which have been postponed four times in the past, will now be held from April 7 to 9 this year at different venues of the city. The general council of the Punjab Olympics Association met here on Saturday and finalised the dates for the Punjab Games and also announced the holding of the 32nd National Games 2012 on October 21-27 next year.

MUMBAI - In a bid to ensure a corruption-free World Cup following the spot-fixing scandal, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned players and team officials from tweeting during matches. The decision, an initiative of ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, was intended to restrain the players and officials from any possible approach by people with links to illegal betting during World Cup matches.

Punjab to host 2012 National Games
LAHORE - The Pakistan Olympics Association on Saturday allocated the 32nd National Games to Punjab and the 4th Inter-Provincial Games to Balochistan. Both the events were allocated on rotation basis. The National Games will most probably be held after 2012 Ramazan and the Inter-provincial Games will be staged by the end of the current year. Special emphasis was laid on anti-doping policy and the federations were asked to make room for mandatory dope test while holding events.

LONDON - Tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games will go on sale on March 15, chairman of the organising committee Sebastian Coe announced on Saturday.
Sports fans will have six weeks -- from March 15 to April 26 -- to apply for the 6.6 million public tickets.
They can apply at any time in that period because it is not a first come, first served process. Any oversubscribed events will be allocated by ballot after the deadline.

PESHAWAR - The 31st National Games concluded in a colourful ceremony at Khan Qayyum Stadium Peshawar on Friday evening. Khyber PK Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti was the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
The National Games started in Peshawar on December 25, 2010. Around 3500 players from 13 contingents participated in 28 games and seven games were exclusive for women.
