MUMBAI - Indian left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of Saturday's World Cup final against Sri Lanka due to a fractured finger, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said.

Semi final causes low attendance in offices

LAHORE - Although the federal government had announced a half holiday on Wednesday, attendance remained low across offices due to the long-awaited India Pakistan World Cup semi final.
Many officers either did not attend work or left early due to the match. Various gatherings have been arranged indoors in houses and restaurants for the match.

PAF upset WAPDA to reach volley final

LAHORE -PAF recorded the biggest upset of the 46th National Men's Volleyball Championship 2011 by defeating defending champions WAPDA. PAF and Army reached the final here on Wednesday.

Samir ousts Jalil to reach final

LAHORE - Pakistan's tennis sensation Samir Iftikhar ousted Jalil Khan on Wednesday to set a date with Aqil Khan in the final of the Tajamal Abbass Memorial Tournament.
Samir beat Pakistan No 2 Jalil 6-3, 6-2 with an exceptional display of tennis. Samir displayed brilliant ground strokes and passing shots, breaking Jalil twice in both sets and never gave any chance to Jalil to settle down. COLOMBO - Sri Lanka may exploit a pitch used three days earlier and employ three specialist spinners for the second match in a row in Tuesday's World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in Colombo.

Class nine students face problems as final exams start

LAHORE - Final examinations of class nine started from Monday but students continued to face problems including load shedding of 10 hours, Pakistan Today has learnt. Students are still facing problems because of the online system and parents and students are still visiting the offices of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) to rectify the problems in the roll number slips.
