Food export increases by 25.55pc

ISLAMABAD - Export of food group, during the last nine months of current financial year, has registered an increase of 25.55 percent compared to the same period of last financial year. Food commodities, worth $3.083 billion, were exported during the period from July to March 2010-11 as against $2.455 billion in the year 2009-10, said figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistic on Tuesday.

Food export rises by 25.55 percent

ISLAMABAD - The food group export from the country during last nine months of current financial year registered an increase of 25.55 percent as compared to the same period of last financial year.
Food commodities worth US$ 3.083 billion were exported during the period from July to March 2010-11 as against the US$ 2.455 billion of the year 2009-10, said the figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistic on Tuesday.

0.8m tonnes of wheat sold for export

LAHORE - The Punjab Food Department has sold over 0.8 million tonnes of wheat for export while agreements have been signed for the sale of more wheat to exporters. Out of 6.6 million tonnes wheat in stocks from procurement of 2010-11, the Punjab Food Department has so far sold over four million tonnes of wheat helping the department to pay back the loans against it and creating room for the storage of wheat to be procured in current season.

ECC allows export of 200,000 tonnes of wheat

ISLAMABAD - The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, on Monday, allowed the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Supplies Corporation (PASSCO) to sell 200,000 tonnes of wheat for export, disallowed institutional investment in the national savings schemes and set up a committee to decide on a subsidy worth Rs 4.6 billion to farmers on 225,000 tonnes of imported urea.
The ECC meeting was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Monday.
