LAHORE - The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) closed electricity for eight to 12 hours in different parts of the city while gas supplies remained suspended on Monday despite respite from cold weather. Citizens of different areas should get ready for six-hour breakdowns on Tuesday and Wednesday. CNG stations were closed for two days, Monday and Tuesday, but even then there was no relief for domestic users, who spent another day without gas.

LAHORE - A private car reserved for security of Privatisation Minister Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan's children collided with a pole due to speeding leaving three people, including an official of the Elite Force, injured near the Mall Road Underpass on Monday morning.The car was also badly damaged in the incident.

KARACHI - The University of Karachi (KU) would start generating its own electricity through a substation that was launched at a ceremony held at the Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE) on Thursday.

KARACHI: The KESC has demanded a further hike in electricity tariff as gas curtailment continue to cause problems. NEPRA had recently augmented the electricity tariff as the KESC incurred additional expenses due to greater utilisation of furnace oil.

Defence Cogent Plant yet to produce electricity
KARACHI: Defence cogent power plant is not functioning for six months due to compressor faults and the Defence Cogent Ltd (DCL) management, major share holder of the project, is not willing to repair it, sources said on Monday.
The plant is the only steam power plant of the city that can produce 84 megawatts but is switched off because the DCL management claiming scarcity of funds required for plant reparation, sources told Pakistan Today.

LAHORE: The Ministry of Water and Power on Monday announced a two percent hike in electricity rates, which will be applicable from November 1 onwards.
