LAHORE - Young doctors on Tuesday issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Punjab government warning that if their demands were not met, doctors across Punjab will also stop working in Indoor Patient Departments (IPD). LAHORE - The young doctors managed to pull-off the first day of the street check-up strike on Monday. They provided outdoor patient department (OPD) services to patients on the streets by setting up medical camps, while simultaneously protesting for the pay raise. The doctors, with black bands wrapped on their arms, set up camps outside all government hospitals including Mayo Hospital, General Hopsital, Children Hospital, Services Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Jinnah Hospital.

Lahore - The Punjab Young Doctors Association's (PYDA) General Council (GC) decided after observing a three-day strike in outdoor patient departments (OPDs) of all city hospitals to resume OPD service not in the hospitals but on the roads adjacent to the hospitals on Friday.

LAHORE - The Punjab Government has decided to take on the doctors who are agitating others to observe strikes to push for improvement in their pay package. LAHORE - The district coordination officers (DCO) of Sheikhupura and Narowal have stopped the salaries of more than 60 doctors in violation of orders of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. These doctors were working in government teaching hospitals, after being recruited by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in 2010 on regular basis and denied salaries for the last three months.

CCPO told to submit report on doctors’ murders
KARACHI - Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza ordered Karachi Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Fayyaz Laghari on Saturday to submit a detailed report to the provincial government on the targeted killing of doctors. The minister directed that the report must include details of the incidents and the registered cases, results of investigations and information about the arrested people and cases forwarded to the courts between January 2010 and February 2011.
