Don’t criticise defence budget, streamline civilian funds: Abbas
ISLAMABAD - Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Athar Abbas told a private TV channel on Sunday that the usage of funds in civilian departments should be streamlined instead of criticising the defence budget.
Abbas said that misleading propaganda was being spread under well-planned conspiracies about the expenses of the army. The conspirators were saying that the defence funds could be used for the prosperity of the country, he said.

FBR may extend risky defence contract
ISLAMABAD - The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is likely to extend its contract with M/S Agility, vendor of Pakistan Customs Computerised System (PACCS), the automated customs clearance software. The software has previously been declared a 'security risk' both by the office of Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) and the FBR itself.

Fire erupts in Defence S Block house
LAHORE - Valuables worth Rs 1.5 million were reduced to ashes when a fire erupted in a house located in Defence Police Station precincts on Sunday. According to details, the fire erupted due to short-circuit in Abdul Majeed's house located in 155 S-Block Defence Housing Authority (DHA) close to the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif (240-S) due to which appliances, furniture and valuables were reduced to ashes but no casualties were reported.
