Standing committee adopts NDU Bill 2011
ISLAMABAD - Recommending changes in accounting procedure, the Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production on Monday adopted the National Defence University Bill 2007. The meeting, held with Senator Lt General (Retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi in the chair, considered the bill and recommended certain changes in the accounting procedure and fee depositing mechanism to make the financial affairs of the university transparent.

LAHORE - The Pakistan Cricket Board's inquiry committee awaits wicket-keeper Zulqarnian Haider when he returns to Pakistan. ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari will preside over a meeting of the core committee of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) at Aiwan-e-Sadr today along with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Inquiry committee hears eight cases of missing persons
KARACHI - The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances (CIED) heard a total of eight cases of missing persons in the Pakistan Secretariat on Tuesday. Appearing before the commission, Abid, younger brother of Muhammad Arif Noor, who was allegedly killed after being abducted, repeated his previous statements saying that his brother was abducted by state-run intelligence agencies and was killed last month. KARACHI - The People's Amn Committee on Wednesday announced that it would suspend all activities and hand over its offices to PPP Sindh. ISLAMABAD - The National Assembly Standing Committee on Education on Wednesday took serious notice of a 'bogus' inquiry report prepared by Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) regarding irregularities in recruitment of teaching staff.
