CII forms body to oversee salaries of devolved ministries’ employees
ISLAMABAD - The Council of Common Interest (CCI) on Tuesday formed a committee headed by secretary finance to devise mechanism for payment of salaries to the employees of all the ministries devolved to the provinces. Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood told journalists that the committee was constituted to workout financial impact in terms of salaries of the employees.

Govt not sending blasphemy reference to CII
ISLAMABAD - The government is reluctant to send a formal reference to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) to have the top religious body's opinion on the blasphemy law in the light of Islamic injunctions, as seeking an opinion would make it mandatory for the government to legislate in accordance with the recommendations.

Shirani takes charge as 13th CII chairman
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl senator from Balochistan, Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani took charge as the 13th chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) on Friday.
The government had notified him as the new chairman on November 16. The government took five months to appoint the new CII chairman, as the six-year tenure of the former chairman Dr Muhammad Khalid Masud expired on June 14.

Shirani refuses to take charge of CII
ISLAMABAD: The new chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Muhammad Khan Sherani, on Tuesday refused to take charge of the council, saying the appointment was not made under Article 228 of the constitution.
