A Multan bound Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Jeddah was delayed on Tuesday night as the aircraft’s generator shut down right before take-off.
Refuting media reports regarding an incidence of fire at the aircraft, PIA spokesperson Danyal Gilani said the aircraft’s generator shut down due to a problem and was parked at bay at Jeddah airport.

“Flight PK-740 will be operated after the rectification of defect,” he added.
Earlier this week, PIA flight PK-788 from London to Karachi was delayed due to technical issues and another PIA ATR faced ‘technical issues’ late Sunday just before it was set to take off from Multan on a flight to Karachi. It was called back to its parking bay, though the airline denied media reports that one of the engines caught fire.
PIA chairman Azam Saigol resigned on Monday citing ‘personal grounds,’ soon after PK-661 from Chitral to Islamabad crashed in Abbottabad resulting in the deaths of 47 people.
