The Supreme Court on Friday postponed hearings of the Panama leaks case until the first week of January 2017.

According to details, Pakistan Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said during the hearing that he was retiring on December 31, 2016; hence he would not participate in any hearing after the full court reference.

“If I give a verdict that documents are correct then the other party will say that they were not given a chance to justify,” the CJP said.

“We respect all of those who put their trust in the bench,” he said.

The objective of the commission is that the decisions are made fairly and all parties are given a chance to present their case. Thus, it is not possible to give a verdict within two days.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) attorney Naeem Bukhari said that if a judicial commission was formed by the Supreme Court, the party would boycott it.

“We have made our case, the court should give its verdict on it,” said Naeem Bukhari.

“If we are not able to make a good case, then the decision should be given according to law,” he added.

He further stated that the decision of the judiciary would be a historic one.

CJP Anwar said, “In cases which pertain to the public interest, a heavy responsibility is on the court.”

“We do not want any aggrieved party to claim that they were not heard by the Supreme Court,” said Justice Jamali.

  1. There is a difference between perception and reality! The perception is that the PM is involved in the Panmamagate all the way and is answerable. The reality is that it is difficult to prove thanks to the confusing and misleading answers his defence is giving. What has the SC has done? It has decided to pass to pass the buck on! It is trying to avoid a historic oppurtunity to pass a decision by suggesting a Commission. The PM ,s team is winning through and through. It,s main stratgey is to Accept a Commission minus PM,s name in the charge sheet. If it succeeds the case loses it,s significance.! Who is going to appoint the judges to the New Court? The president in consultation With the PM! Does any one remember the last judge who apposed the the PM in his previous tenure?. He ran for his life to the military cantonement to Escape from the "Gulloos " of the day. What will the PTI do now? another dharna!
