The Lahore High Court (LHC) has taken notice of the Rs1,375 pension being given to two-time war hero Muhammad Yaseen, who fought both Indo-Pak wars in 1965 and 1971, a private media outlet reported Thursday.
According to reports, an LHC bench, headed by Justice Waqas Rauf, heard the case proceedings in which a petition was filed by Yaseen’s advocate Inamur Rahim.
The plea stated that the federal government was not bearing any of Yaseen’s medical expenses.
“He is now 72-year-old and in 2018 the government fixed the pension as at least Rs10,000 but this wasn’t imposed on the Defence Ministry,” the petition read.
“GHQ concerned branches must be issued a notice to provide him Rs10,000 as pension and free of cost medical facility at military hospitals.”
In view of this, the court issued a notice to the government demanding a reply within three weeks’ time.
