— Claims Opp wants to seek NRO through ‘pressure tactics’
— Adds that being elected is ‘license to plunder country’ for Opp
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said that Opposition in the National Assembly behaves as if their only function is to stage walkouts.
Taking to Twitter, the prime minister wrote that “in a Parliament that costs taxpayers billions yearly, yet another walkout in NA by the Opposition shows that this is the only function they intend to perform”.
He claimed that these are “pressure tactics to seek a national reconciliation ordinance (NRO) and evade accountability for corruption in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases not initiated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)”.

Reiterating that for the Opposition “being elected is a license to plunder the country”, he questioned if democracy meant “immunity from the corruption of democratically elected political leaders”.
Does democracy mean immunity from corruption of democratically elected political leaders? It seems for them being elected is a license to plunder the country. https://t.co/POpMhLg7L1

Yesterday, Opposition in the National Assembly staged a walkout after Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif criticised the PTI government for awarding the contract for the Rs309 billion Mohmand Dam project to a Descon-led consortium on a single bid basis.
He also said that the current government was generating electricity through furnace oil which is the most expensive fuel and LNG-based power plants were presently not functioning to full capacity.
As Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda stood up to respond to Shehbaz’s criticism, the Opposition refused to listen to him and staged a walkout.
