The Awami National Party’s Sindh chapter has said it has nothing to do with the statement of provincial senior minister Zulfiqar Mirza against MQM leader Altaf Hussain.
The party Thursday said the ‘controversial’ statement should be taken as Mirza’s personal opinion. “The followers of Wali Khan acknowledge the sacrifices rendered by the Urdu speaking people for the creation of Pakistan”, a statement issued here on Thursday said. It said the all the political parties, people and the media should work for peace in Karachi.
“The fresh wave of violence in Karachi and the loss of life and property are deplorable. These unfortunate incidents with regular intervals are creating a sense of insecurity among the people”, it added. The statement clarified that Mirza was only a guest speaker at a reception hosted by Sindh ANP President Shahi Syed to celebrate the restoration of commissionerate system in Sindh. It said that the ANP should not be held responsible for what Mirza said there.
