Three criminals impersonating policemen arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: The police on Thursday traced a gang of criminals who were impersonating policemen and arrested three of its members who were reportedly looting passengers coming to the port city via Jinnah International Airport.

According to a local media outlet, a team of the central zone police conducted raids in the area of Ajmeer Nagri. During the operation, the police took three wanted criminal suspects into custody.

Briefing the media, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Arif Rao said that the gang was involved in looting the masses by fooling them into thinking that they were being interrogated by real policemen.

“Fake police identity cards, weapons, police caps and jackets were recovered from the custody of the arrested outlaws,” he told while adding that the criminals had also rented a vehicle on the monthly amount of Rs60,000 for their ill deeds.

He told the press that the criminals have confessed to their ill deeds and would be given sentences accordingly.
