PESHAWAR: The Peshawar-Rashakai Motorway section (M1) was closed for traffic on Sunday owing to foggy conditions.

The Motorway police advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel under the conditions.

However, the police advised drivers to drive at very slow speeds and use fog lights if they had to travel.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) spokesperson, a cold and dry weather spell is forecast for the next 24 hours in most parts of the country.

Earlier on December 31, the motorway has been closed for traffic from Lahore to Kot Momen and onwards from Khanewal to Multan due to dense fog.

Additionally, the public had been asked to avoid unnecessary travelling while the drivers had been directed to use fog lights during intense weather conditions.

The Punjab police have also issued directions for the public to use fog lights. A helpline number is issued as well in case of any emergency situations.
