Days of corruption at their end, Chohan assures

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Fayazul Hassan Chohan has said that the days of culprits who looted the national exchequer through corruption, money laundering, settling kickbacks and destroyed national institutions of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Railways and Steel Mills are numbered as they would soon be behind bars.

He was talking to the media at the launching ceremony of the National Book Fair at e-Library located in Public Park, Rawalpindi on Saturday.

Chohan said that the “Sharif Mafia” reduced Pakistani exports worth 38 billion dollars up to 20 billion dollars, setting new records of corruption in the country, adding that Nawaz Sharif enjoyed 85 days foreign visits along his family members and personal investors to promote his personal businesses, whereas Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had been conducting foreign visits only for the revival of Pakistan’s badly damaged economy.

He said that JIT has been constituted on Model Town incident and law will take its course on daylight murder of 14 persons.

Responding to a question, the minister said that those who declared National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws as black laws, had appointed the NAB chairman themselves and that too with consensus.

He strongly condemned the allegations made by Rana Sana Ullah and other opposition leaders, saying that they were involved in mega corruption cases that damaged the national exchequer and now are now misleading the public. He was of the view that present leadership of PTI is committed to restoring the economy and image of Pakistan in the international community.

Replying to another question, Chohan clarified that the local administration, as well as police officials, have been directed to adopt foolproof measures to apprehend culprits involved in petty crimes of dacoities, robberies, etc.

In relation to the event, Chohan underlined the need for promoting book reading and said that it is necessary that such kind of literary activities be organised regularly to promote book reading. He congratulated the organisers on successfully organising the event and said that he is also a book lover and likes to spend his time in research-oriented activities.

Later, chief librarian Sher Afzal Malik briefed the participants about the details of the three-day book fair.
