After weeks of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik and model Gigi Hadid have officially broken up.
The news has been making rounds about the on-and-off couple claiming that the two were taking ‘some time apart’and had been since early November.
Not only that, but their absence from social media during the holiday season made their fans wonder about the relationship status of the two. However, according to US Weekly, the duo was not on a break, but have broken up.
“They’re done,” a source close to the couple explained.
“They could get back together, but it’s over for now.”
Additionally, it was also reported that the 23-year-old model “tried hard to make it work,” but the former One Direction member, 25, has “a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through.”
“She cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together,” the source added. “She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.”
Zayn has also unfollowed Gigi on Instagram.
Gigi and Zayn, who were first linked in November 2015, split for the first time in March after two years of dating. They announced their breakup in lengthy statements on social media at the time. Less than two months later, however, the pair were spotted together in New York City.
