LAHORE: Lahore DIG (Operations) Waqas Nazir on Wednesday said that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against those involved in drug-related activities in order to save the youth of the country.
He said that a stern crackdown would be launched against drug peddlers in the surroundings of educational institutions, whereas awareness programmes would also be initiated for the students.
The DIG directed the police officials to evolve a comprehensive strategy with the cooperation of the administration of educational institutes, teachers and parents to curb the menace of drugs.
“Lahore police will continue conducting awareness lectures, seminars and other similar activities in educational institutions.”
Speaking of the crackdown on drug peddlers, he said that police had so far arrested 64 persons for selling drugs in the premises of colleges and universities within the past two months.
“More than 41 kg hashish, 350 grams of heroin, 172 bottles of liquor and other drugs were also recovered from these drug peddlers,” the DIG said.
