LAHORE: Former captain Pakistan cricket team Sana Mir on Wednesday said that women cricket structure in the country needs to be developed on the same level as countries like Australia and England.

Talking to a local media house, Mir said that she waited a long before reaching to the top spot in the international ranking. “If the domestic structure would be more developed then Pakistan might have had more high-ranking women cricketers,” she said.

The 32-year-old said that it was an honour “to be named as the top-ranked ICC bowler”.

Replying to a question about retirement, star cricketer said that “she does think it [retirement] but also wants to continue representing Pakistan”.

Former skipper was recently named in the ICC Women’s ODI team of the year. Mir was made part of the coveted ICC squad following her 19 wickets in 7 matches and rose to the top of ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings in October last year.

Mir was also recognized by the international cricket governing body when her delivery to Ireland’s Laura Delany in the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 was voted as the Play of Women’s World T20 in December.
